Package Questions
I have multiple cats - can you photograph them all in one session?
Absolutely! I love cats, so the more the merrier as far as I’m concerned! You’re booking me for two hours of my time, so I’m happy to photograph as many cats as possible within that window.
Will I appear in the photos?
I’m more than happy for you to be in the photographs with your cat – a shot or two of you holding or playing with your furbaby makes a lot of sense as it shows your loving relationship.
That said, whether you appear in the photos or not is completely up to you.
How many photos will I receive?
The standard package includes 10 professionally edited photos, regardless of the number of cats photographed. Additional edited photos can be purchased individually, or in bundles of 5 or 10.
Can you send me all the images from our shoot?
I shoot in RAW, which means that every photo that comes out of my camera needs some TLC before it can be printed or used as a presentable as JPG file. For this reason I don’t make all of the images available.
If you particularly want the RAW files, they can be made available for an extra fee and with additional terms and conditions applied. Please ask for details.
What does "edited photos" mean?
Most cameras produce images in RAW format. Typically, these images are lacking in “oomph” – they lack the dynamic range and the pop factor straight out of camera, however they contain much more image data than a JPG file.
This is where the photographer’s work can often fly under the radar, and this is one of the ways in which we can bring out the detail in black cats.
Upon loading the files in a computer (or occasionally a mobile device), I will add energy and atmosphere to the images by making a series of basic adjustments to brightness, colour, and contrast. I may also remove the odd blemish or distraction, but I won’t be turning your cat into an airbrushed model or replacing the background to put them the desert!
Unforeseen Circumstances
What if I need to reschedule?
I fully appreciate that life sometimes throws up unexpected events, so I’ll do everything I can to accommodate your new requirements.
Contractually, deposits become non-refundable seven days prior to the shoot, and the full balance becomes due if the booking is cancelled less than 72 hours prior to the shoot.
In exceptional circumstances, discretion will be used.
What image backup procedures do you have?
I always bring two camera bodies with me to any shoot, in case of the unlikely event of one of them failing.
All of my cameras have dual memory card slots – so all images are saved twice to safeguard against memory card failure.
I replace all of my memory cards every two years, and retain the old ones as emergency spares.
As soon as I get home, all images are saved on to an external hard drive, and uploaded to cloud storage. Once images have been finalised, the JPGs are also copied to the cloud.
Payment and Contracts
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept bank transfers, PayPal, and credit or debit cards. For larger purposes I can arrange an interest-free payment plan.
In all cases, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.
Why do I need to sign a contract?
A photography contract is the most efficient way of protecting us both. A contract sets out exactly what services are being provided, and gives you the peace of mind of knowing that you’re working with a professional.
Will you provide an invoice?
Yes, absolutely. An invoice will be provided at the time of booking. The booking will only be confirmed when the contract is signed and the deposit paid.
Are you registered for VAT?
No, I am not currently registered for VAT, and as such, the prices you see are the prices you pay.
